Pre-Prep Learning Support
The Learning Development Centre
The Learning Development Centre ( LDC) is a unique resource at the heart of Brockhurst and Marlston House Schools with CReSTeD status.
It is important in the early years to respond quickly to any difficulties children may be experiencing, as early intervention is the key to children progressing through our pre-prep department. For this reason we have a dedicated SENCo for early years who works closely with the Director of the LDC. At this stage children may require support via a speech and language therapist or occupational therapist, who visit the school on a weekly basis. Screening can be undertaken for specific learning difficulties (dyslexia), although a formal assessment should not be undertaken until children are at least 7 years old.
In year one or two children may need a boost with their learning, either for literacy or numeracy and individual lessons can be arranged with the LDC.
